Since then, the species has become Idaho's most economically significant invasive stink bug, but by the state's own assessment it hasn't managed to establish itself as thoroughly here as it has in neighboring Washington and Oregon, where populations are considerably larger. That gives Idaho a genuinely different stink bug situation than states with decades of established populations: calls here tend to involve smaller numbers and more isolated sightings rather than the dense fall swarms other regions deal with, though as Idaho's population keeps growing and bringing new residents and their belongings in from elsewhere, continued spread is something the state keeps monitoring closely.

Licensing in Idaho: Idaho licenses pesticide application, including structural pest control, through the Idaho State Department of Agriculture rather than through a separate pest control board. Applicators must complete at least one year of experience under a licensed operator, then pass the Core exam covering laws, safety, and application methods, plus a category specific exam for each type of work performed, such as structural, termite, or mosquito control, since categories are licensed separately rather than as one general credential. Idaho requires a passing score of 70 percent on these exams, proof of financial responsibility, and initial licensing fees around 225 dollars. Certifications renew every two years, and Professional Applicators must complete 16 hours of continuing education per renewal cycle. Nuisance wildlife removal, including raccoons, bats, and other animals entering structures, is regulated separately: trapping wildlife in Idaho requires its own trapping license administered through Idaho Fish and Game, distinct from the Department of Agriculture's pesticide applicator system.
