Plumber in New Mexico

Much of New Mexico outside the Albuquerque and Santa Fe metro areas depends on private wells rather than municipal water, and that groundwater tends to run hard, carrying enough dissolved calcium and magnesium to scale up water heaters, clog aerators, and shorten the life of fixtures faster than areas served by treated municipal supply. Underground repair work in New Mexico carries its own complication: much of the state sits over caliche, a dense, cemented layer of calcium carbonate that can sit just beneath the topsoil, and trenching through it to reach a broken sewer or water line takes real time and heavier equipment than digging through ordinary soil. New Mexico's older adobe and territorial style homes, common in and around Santa Fe and Taos, often still carry original galvanized steel supply lines that were never meant to last a century, and replacing them without disturbing thick adobe walls takes a different approach than a typical repipe. Plumbing contractors in New Mexico are licensed through the state's Construction Industries Division.
