Roofing Contractor in Missouri

Missouri has no general statewide contractor license, but roofing is treated differently under state law: since January 1, 2023, Senate Bill 326 has required anyone offering roofing contractor services in Missouri to register directly with the Department of Commerce and Insurance and carry at least $1 million in liability coverage, on top of whatever separate licensing a city like St. Louis or Kansas City requires locally. The bigger factor for Missouri roofs is hail. The state sits along a high frequency hail corridor near the I-70 and I-44 corridors, and severe hail reports here regularly rank among the highest in the country most years. Hail bruising on asphalt shingles often isn't visible from the ground, which is one reason so many roofing insurance claims in Missouri get filed weeks after the storm that actually caused the damage.
