Roofing Contractor in New Hampshire

New Hampshire has no statewide license for roofers or general contractors, but residential roofing jobs priced above $1,000 fall under the state's Home Improvement Contractor registration law, which requires proof of liability insurance before a contractor can legally sign that contract. Snow load requirements vary a lot depending on where in the state a roof sits, from around 40 pounds per square foot near the Seacoast up to well over 100 pounds per square foot in parts of the White Mountains, so what counts as adequate roof framing in one New Hampshire town can fall short in another. The freeze and thaw cycle that runs through a typical New Hampshire winter is also the main driver of ice dams, where melting snow refreezes at the roof edge and backs water up under the shingles.
