Roofing Contractor in Vermont

Vermont is one of the few states with no exam based contractor licensing system at all. Instead, the Secretary of State's Office of Professional Regulation simply requires residential contractors, roofers included, to register once a project's value reaches $10,000 in combined labor and materials, with no test or education requirement attached. Vermont's cold, snowy winters make ice damming a genuine concern for roofs here, since heat escaping through poorly insulated attics melts snow that refreezes at the eaves and can force water back under shingles, which is part of why metal roofing that sheds snow more easily is common across the state.
